Çayeli

Çayeli, which is 19 km away from Rize, is surrounded by Çamlıhemşin and İkizdere in the south, Pazar in the east, Rize in the west and the Black Sea in the north. It has an area of ​​473 km² and a population of 42.450. It is the largest district of Rize in terms of population.

There are two towns, 53 villages and 33 neighborhoods connected to the province. Its former name is Mapavri, which became a district in 1944 after taking the name of Çaybaşı. Then the name was changed again to Çayeli.

The economy is based on agriculture is the main source of income for the province. It also has copper deposits and a copper plant.
